Several factories in Katunayake and Biyagama Free Trade Zones, have closed down due to reports of cases of Covid 19 virus. Report of the first female employee from Brandix Lanka in Minuwangoda, now it is rise up to 1304 employees, including factory workers.
Meanwhile, patients infected with the virus were also reported at the Next Company in the Katunayake Free Trade Zone, and today , 14 employees of the company have been infected with the virus. Due to this several factories in the Katunayake Free Trade Zone have been closed down.
An employee of the Hela Clothing factory in Thihariya, another leading garment factory in the country, has also been infected with the corona virus. The factory said in a statement that the factory had been “temporarily shut down” and that Corona had tested positive for the virus.
Health officials say the virus has spread to all these factories through infected people at the Brandix Lanka factory in Minuwangoda. The victim’s wife is a former employee of the Brandix factory in Minuwangoda. It is said that the virus had entered the Next factory in Katunayake through Manpower employees in Brandix, Minuwangoda.
