The Minister of Labor Nimal Siripala de Silva today (12) appointed a special committee to inquire into allegations and complaints that the employees of the Brandix factory in Minuwangoda were suffering from Corona virus and not follow health guidelines to prevent it.
Deputy Commissioner of Labor E.C.P. Dabare and K.B.G.Premadasa, Legal Officer, Department of Labor are members of the committee.
According to media reports, the employees of the Brandix factory in Minuwangoda being ill and not being given proper medical treatment or care and continuing to work in such sick conditions. The Minister also directed to factory management to obtain a full report on the incident and whether the factory health committees which were to be implemented during the season were properly functioning in the factory premises and whether the Covid prevention health instructions were being followed.
The Minister also requested the trade union representatives to submit their complaints, evidence and statements of their members to this committee.
