Dappula de Livera, Attorney General, has requested from the Acting Inspector General of Police, C.D wikramaratne , to immediately investigate the involvement of Brandix in the spread of the Minuwangoda Covid 19 virus and submit a report within two weeks.
Accordingly, the Acting Inspector General of Police handed over the case to the Colombo Crimes Division and handed it over to a team headed by an Assistant Superintendent of Police under the supervision of its Director.
But even when it was handed over to them, several of its officers were told by the attorney general that Covid was infected. Accordingly, the Attorney General has instructed the Acting Inspector General of Police to immediately remove these investigations from the Colombo Crimes Division and transfer them to another division because Covid is suspected to have spread through crime division officials.
Accordingly, the Acting Inspector General of Police will transfer the investigation to another division.
Thirteen officers of the Colombo Crimes Division have been infected with Covid and all the police officers present have been quarantined.
