Attorney General calls for police report on ”Brandix cluster”…

So far, there have been close to 5,000 Covid patients in the second wave and 19 deaths. Today (27)  there are three deaths. The Health Department has identified several high risk areas in the Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara districts. Sixty-four police jurisdictions throughout the island are still subject to police quarantine.

In addition to this wave of Covid which started from Minuwangoda, a group of Covid of Peliyagoda has also been formed. This invisible virus is invading the capital of the country including many districts. Against this backdrop, the government has not yet decided to close the entire country as it did last time. It is said that it is to maintain the economy of the country and to maintain the daily activities of the people.

Meanwhile, Attorney General Dappula de Livera today (27) issued an order to the Acting IGP. He called for an immediate inquiry into the distribution of the Brandix cluster in Minuwangoda. It also ordered that the report be submitted to the Attorney General within two weeks.

However, the daily Aruna newspaper had reported yesterday (26) that the State Intelligence Service had traced the source of the expansion and had submitted a report to the President. According to the report, the second wave of Kovid was not started by Brandix but by a hotel in Seeduwa. Brandix has also denied allegations that the virus was spread by people who imported it from India.

The Seeduwa Administrative Public Health Inspector also said that this news could not be accepted. Also, Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva has not yet confirmed the veracity of the report. In such a background, the Attorney General had called for a report from the police today.
