Ali Sabri, Minister of Justice, presented the 20th Amendment to the Constitution to Parliament today in the face of strong opposition from the Opposition.
The amendment has caused a great deal of controversy in the Opposition as well as the ruling party in recent days. As a result, the Prime Minister had appointed a nine-member committee of six ministers to study the matter.
However, at a recent cabinet meeting, the President said that the bill should be tabled in Parliament immediately without making any amendments and that if there are any amendments, it should be made in Parliament.
