A youth who went to the Anuradhapura Police Headquarters to lodge a complaint has been admitted to the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital with injuries after being assaulted by a senior officer of the Anuradhapura office of the National Police Commission.
The young boy, a resident of the Thirappana police division, was assaulted by an officer of the Anuradhapura office of the National Police Commission who is said to be the uncle of the complainant when he went to the Anuradhapura police headquarters last (19th) to investigate the complaint.
The victim had lodged a complaint with the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital Police and his father, a retired Army officer, had lodged a complaint with the IGP and the National Police Commission.
When the victim was arrested and produced before the court, his lawyer had also informed the judge about the assault.
