Kosgoda Tharaka gets minimal power from police!

Another suspect was shot dead this morning (13) less than 24 hours after a suspect in police custody was killed with minimal police force.

Dharma Keerthi Tharaka Perera Wijesekera alias Kosgoda Tharaka has passed away. The 34-year-old man was arrested by the Western Province North Crimes Division. Police Media Spokesman, DIG, Attorney-at-Law Ajith Rohana stated that a firearm was used when he was taken to the Rendepola area in Mirigama for an investigation. Kosgoda Tharaka succumbed to his injuries after being admitted to the Mirigama Hospital.

It is said that a Chief Inspector of Police has also been admitted to the Wathupitawila Hospital with injuries.

According to police reports, Kosgoda Tharaka is a person involved in 07 murders and 21 robberies. In 2018, Nileka Jewelery in Matara was robbed by his group. He was arrested by the Western Province North Crimes Division while he was out on bail from Boossa Prison for a long time.

In June last year, Raja of the Gona Kovil in Minuwangoda was killed by officers of the Western Province North Crime Division.

The police are tasked with suppressing the underworld. It is atrocious that people arrested by the police while being suffering from the corona epidemic are being shot dead by the police. These days, the police are taking advantage of the fact that most people do not pay attention to these murders.

It is also problematic that a Chief Inspector of Police was injured due to an unarmed suspect in police custody. This too may have been part of the screenplay of Makandure Madush’s assassination.
