Health Minister should resign!

If the Minister of Health Pavithra Devi Wanniarachchi realizes her weaknesses and resigns from her post, it will be a great service to the health sector, says the Government Medical Officers’ Forum.

This was stated in a letter to Health Minister Pavithra Devi Wanniarachchi signed by the President of the Government Medical Officers’ Forum (GMOF) Dr. Rukshan Bellana entitled ‘An Appeal to Resign’. Copies have also been sent to the President.

This article points out that Pavithra Devi Wanniarachchi has been the Minister of Health for 16 months from December 2019 up to now. Former Ministers Rajitha Senaratne, Maithripala Sirisena, Nimal Siripala de Silva, John Seneviratne, P. Dayaratne and A. H. M. Compared to Fowzie, Pavithra Devi Wanniarachchi is the weakest and most ineffective minister in this country.

“You have no vision. That is why there is no targeted mission. Back then Wela Tours was your only concept. Therefore, the Executive Committee which met to discuss this has filed 10 charges.

Namely 1. Failure to provide proper leadership to health staff in the face of Corona / Kovid 19 epidemic. Instead, creating division among the health staff, 2. Becoming a pawn / cat of that trade union by negotiating only with a selected trade union, 3. Not dealing adequately with formal academies, 4. Top officials of the Ministry of Health Failure to act collectively under one flag, 5. Degradation of medicine by leading myth to health instead of science, 6. Putting an end to corruption and fraud in the Ministry of Health, however, making the health service a source of money even through the corona epidemic. 7. Allegations of appointing retirees aside from those qualified for health administration positions, 8. Political retaliation against health workers, 9. No disciplinary action against Western medical personnel who come to the media and spread the illusion, 10. Making the corona vaccine a complete joke.

The letter further states that although there are hundreds of allegations to be made, the Minister himself should take a decision and resign in view of the above serious allegations.
