European grants to fishermen affected by ship fire!

The European Union (EU) has offered tens of millions of dollars in aid to people affected by a toxic shipwreck off the coast of Sri Lanka.

While the Express Pearl was transporting toxic chemicals and plastic particles, a fire broke out several kilometers off the coast of Sri Lanka, endangering seawater and marine life.

The European Union (EU) has announced that it will provide more than 200,000 Euros (over 400 million rupees) in relief aid to victims of incident in the Colombo, Galle, Kalutara, Gampaha, Puttalam and Matara districts.

“This will assist to the Sri Lanka Red Cross in financial assistance to provide emergency relief to the most affected, especially small-scale fishing communities,” the EU Colombo Mission said in a statement today. “This will also help meet the urgent needs of those affected by the post-incident sea ban. The aid will also be used to assist local authorities in clearing hazardous and toxic substances along the country’s west coast. Volunteers will be trained and provided with personal protective equipment, goggles and boots. ”

The European Union (EU) has said it will pay special attention to women-at-risk families, people with disabilities and elders.
