Premalal Jayasekara, who was selected for the Parliament from Ratnapura District Parliament, should be allowed to attend Parliamentary sittings and be taken to Parliament for that purpose, Court of Appeal Judge A.H.M.D Navas and Sobhitha Rajakaruna today (07) issued an interim order to the Commissioner General of Prisons.
Premalal Jayasekara has been granted this order by judge hearing writ petition seeking an order from the Commissioner General of Prisons to allow him to attend Parliamentary sessions after being elected to Parliament at the General Election.
Notices have also been issued to the Commissioner General of Prisons Thushara Upuldeniya and the Welikada Superintendent of Prisons and the Secretary General of Parliament to allow the hearing of the petition.
Announcing the decision, Court of Appeal Judge Nawaz has stated in open court that a court decision has not yet been issued stating that the election of Premalal Jayasekara as a Member of Parliament is illegal.
The court also ordered that the petition be called back on the 29th of this month.
