War Victims Monument Revived!

Less than four months after the demolition of a monument on the Jaffna University grounds to commemorate Tamils ​​killed in the war, it was reopened by the University Students’ Union on Friday, April 23.
Commenting on the inauguration of the new Mullivaikkal Memorial with offerings of flowers and light, the Student Union Leader said that the public, members of the Diaspora, the Muslim community and many foreign diplomats had supported the restoration of the monument.
He had said that the monument depicts the existence of the Tamil people and their tragic experiences.
The student union leader pointed out that every nation has the right to commemorate their dead and stressed to the authorities that there is no terrorist activity here.
The Vice Chancellor of the Jaffna University had taken the initiative to demolish the monument erected on the university premises to commemorate the war dead.
Jaffna University Vice Chancellor Sri Sathgunarajama had taken steps to lay the foundation stone on Monday, January 11th.
