Three million doses of vaccines are
Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella says that all corona vaccines will be brought to Sri Lanka in the coming months .
Accordingly, three million doses will be given soon and the Kandy and Kurunegala districts will be given priority, he said at a media briefing after a special meeting held at the Kandy District Secretariat today (09).
He strongly denied allegations by some that the government did not have the money to pay for the vaccine.
He said that the government had the funds to purchase the vaccines and that no advance was required for the vaccines and that the relevant agencies had informed the country that the required stock of vaccines would be provided soon.
The Minister said that it has been decided to give this vaccine to about 7000 journalists scattered all over the island and added that it is the intention of the President to give the vaccine to all the people of the country.
He said it was not the government’s intention to completely shut down the country to control the corona epidemic, adding that isolation and travel restrictions would be imposed as needed on the recommendation of the health sector to control the epidemic.
The Minister said that no one from India will be allowed into the country and that the Navy is conducting special operations for maritime migration raids.
