Ravi Kumudesh explains the reason for the decline in Covid in Colombo

The Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists and Professionals says there are currently three reasons why the number of corona epidemics in the capital is declining.

They say that the main reason for this is the reduction of Covid tests at a much faster rate than that of spreading Covid.

“But we are not saying it has decreased. It Is declining, Ravi Kumudesh, the President of the Association, said at a media briefing held in Colombo yesterday (20) that it would be scientifically correct to say that the rate of increase in infections has decreased.

The other two factors that contribute to the decrease in the number of Covid infections are the vaccination and the fact that most people are already infected with Covid.

Ravi Kumudesh points out that due to the reduction in the number of tests, it is not possible to read the current situation scientifically.

Ravi Kumudesh alleges that the Deputy Director General of Laboratory Services of the Ministry of Health is directly responsible for the reduction in the number of Covid tests, and that his decisions have prevented and delayed the arrival of new technology and testing facilities in the country.
