The supreme court has decided to extended the hearing of two petitions challenging the appointment of a new Chairman and members to the Sri Lanka Medical Council and the decision of the Cabinet to transfer the remaining non-reserved forests of Sri Lanka to the District Secretaries.

Health Minister Pavithradevi Wanni Arachchi and the Attorney General have been named as respondents in a petition filed by three members, including Prof. Harendra Silva, the former chairman of the Sri Lanka Medical Council, challenging the appointment of a new chairman and four members.
