Special Risk Allowance is further requested

The Joint Health Workers Union (JHWU) has requested the Minister of Health to continue the Covid Special Risk Allowance given to health workers in the wake of the epidemic.

Addressing a letter to Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, the Joint Health Workers’ Union pointed out that health workers have to make special sacrifices in the face of the current epidemic.

They point out that despite the epidemic, they have to come to work, provide transportation, and take special risks with regard to safety.

At the urging of health workers, they received a special risk allowance of Rs. 7,500 each for the past three months. However, Ven. Tampitiye Sugathananda Thero, the General Secretary of the United Health Workers’ Union says that they have not been informed yet about the continuation of the allowance.

The letter sent by Ven. Tampitiye Sugathananda Thero to Minister Keheliya Rambukwella further states As the epidemic is not over, we request that this allowance be continued.
