Request to arrest former President regarding Easter Sunday attack…

Tamil medias has reported that politicians have requested to arrest the former President Maithripala Sirisena responsible for the Easter Sunday attack.

According to the reports, the politicians have stated this in their posts on their Facebook page.

Meanwhile, at a media conference held in Colombo, UPFA MP Ranjith Maddumabandara has requested for legal action against the former President regarding this.

Former Defense Secretary Hemasiri Fernando, who testified before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the Easter Sunday attack, said he had asked former President Poojitha Jayasundara to take responsibility for the attack and resign as police chief.

Hemasiri Fernando has said that he had informed former President Poojitha Jayasundara that he would be given the post of ambassador to a foreign country if he changed his report and resigned.

According to political sources, former President Maithripala Sirisena is embarrassed by the testimony given by the former Secretary to the Ministry of Defense to the Presidential Commission. However, I.B.C and Day Jaffna web sites reported the former President issued a statement yesterday denying the allegations made by Hemasiri Fernando.
