Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekera, Minister of Public Security says that the President decided to introduce organic fertilizer for use because he loves the country, not because as a strategy to face election ahead.
He said that this decision was not taken immediately or by anyone’s influence. The use of this chemical fertilizer would be a great disaster for Sri Lanka and the number of kidney patients and cancer patients has increased due to this, minister stated .
The Minister added when this chemical is mixed with our soil and mixed with our water, such diseases are created and people also fall ill due to the consumption of agricultural crops made using this water.
He says that there were no chemical fertilizers in this country which was the ‘granary of the East’ during the reign of King Parakramabahu and at that time the agricultural miracle was performed according to the ancient local methods and we also able to exported rice at that era.
Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekera, Minister of Public Security express these views in a meeting held at the Kolonnawa Divisional Secretariat.
