Is asking ‘dan sapada’ ( Are you happy now?) could be considered as a serious offence?

It is an obvious point, which increasing fuel prices in middle of this Covid epidemic is an unbearable burden for the people of the country.
Due to this fuel price increasing there is a cold war within some parties of the government. The opposition is directly calling for a reduction in oil prices immediately. Many trade unions in the country are also calling for the same demand.

There have been a number of protests in recent days organized by various parties that protesting against the increase in oil prices. Meanwhile, four persons, including the Galle District Secretary of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya Youth front had arrived to Galle in bullock cart from near the Magalla bridge, displaying anti-government placards. These placards were displayed phrase ‘ dan sapada?’
However, the four were arrested by mobile patrol police yesterday on charges of violating traffic restrictions by hanging anti-government banners. They had rented that bullock cart from a person in the Thalapitiya area and had come to Galle. They were arrested by police and later released on police bail.
The public has raised doubts as to whether these people got arrest due to displaying that banner which ask ‘dan sapada’. Another person was arrested earlier for calling and asking ‘dan sapada’ from the Mayor of Moratuwa.
In addition, there is an operation to arrest people who express their views on social media networks. These are restriction for the freedom of speech and expression of the people and also an intimidation. In a democratic system the freedom of speech and expression of people would not deprived like this.
