President agrees to convene an all party conference …!

It is reported that President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has agreed to convene an all party conference convened by the Sri Lanka Freedom Party to save the country from the current crisis.

A meeting between the SLFP Parliamentary Group and President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa was held on the evening of February 08, during which the SLFP handed over to the President a 15 point resolution including the All Party Conference resolution to help the country recover from the current crisis.

The SLFP has mainly suggested that an all-party conference representing all parties in parliament be convened to work out a solution to the country’s crisis and to put it into action immediately. Lasantha Alagiyawanna, a senior member of the SLFP, has stated on his Facebook account that President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has accepted the proposal and has decided to convene the All Party Conference soon.

The President, Basil Rajapaksa, Mahinda Rajapaksa and Sagara Kariyawasam representing the People’s Front have participated in this meeting. The SLFP has been requesting a meeting with the President for a long time to discuss issues such as harassment of its party, and it is learned that the meeting was held as a ploy to keep the SLFP in the government following the removal of MPs Wimal Weerawansa and Udaya Gammanpila from their ministerial posts.
