Make vaccination compulsory for teachers and principals – Ceylon Teachers Union

The General Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers’ Union Joseph Starlin says that the results of the last GCE Ordinary Level Examination have not been released yet due to the inability to conduct a practical examination.

However, he says that the education authorities have not yet spoken about the course of action to be taken in this regard.

In particular, more than 800,000 students are under stress over their exams, and education authorities have not yet announced how their curriculum will work.

He points out that in countries such as the United States, the Pfizer vaccine is now being given to children, but in Sri Lanka, the school’s / principals have been asked several times to give the anti-epilepsy vaccine, but the vaccine has now been politicized.

He says that at present the education of 43 lakhs of children in Sri Lanka has come to a complete standstill and it is mandatory for school teachers to be vaccinated before starting school.

Joseph Starlin also accused some politicians of taking the lead in administering the vaccine, saying it should be given to the leading groups first.

He said that teachers were being severely influenced by online education and that in some schools, teachers were forced to wear saris and male teachers to wear ties.
