If we are shot to head by using minimal force, we will fail- Attorney Ramani Muththetuwegama

Former Commissioner of Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka Ramani Muththetuwegama said that, since in the past we supposed bail given in very rare cases, but now bail is being given in rare cases and Sri Lankan Magistrates think it is guilty to grant bail.

She further point outs, prison congestion is main problem and this situation is one reason for it.

Someone thought that to control whole country from this manner. They bought some quarantine rules.

At the end of the April month prison inmates reduced from 21,000 to 14,000 because of Corona pandemic situation, but the number of arrests had risen to 34,000 by September due to the curfew imposed since May.

Pointing out that the Mahara conflict finally took place, she emphasized that what happened there is now 100% clear.  So far two reports have been released stating that 11 people were killed that day due to the shooting by these officers.
