Five members removed from the Sri Lanka Medical Council.
The Chairman of the Sri Lanka Medical Council Prof. Harendra Silva, Prof. Narada Warnasuriya, Doctors Pushpitha Ubayasiri, Sunil Ratnapriya and Upul Gunasekera have been removed.
However, it is reported that they have decided to go to court against Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi.
Former members say that the removal of their members is a violation of the Medical Council Ordinance as the Minister of Health does not have the power to remove members of the Medical Council.
However, they are delaying the election of officers of the Sri Lanka Medical Council, postponing the examination of foreign graduates, committing disciplinary action, allowing unqualified doctors to write the ERPM examination and not registering foreign universities properly. The Minister said that they were guilty of the charges.
