Festive opening bed wards!

Festive opening bed wards!

The government had decided to convert Covid Intermediate Centers into hospitals due to the rapid increase in the number of Kovid patients. Various parties in the government offered to build tens of thousands of beds.

Accordingly, the Sri Lanka People’s Front is currently constructing temporary hospitals in every area / district. This has now become a competition among district leaders and a wave of beds can be seen as a result of this.

Meanwhile, some ministers and MPs are constructing these temporary Covid wards and holding ceremonies to open them. The most recent example of this is the opening of the temporary Covid Treatment Center in Wathupitiwala in the Gampaha District with a ceremony. The construction was carried out by the Sri Lanka People’s Front. It was inaugurated on the 12th by the Minister of Tourism Prasanna Ranatunga.

One of the health guidelines issued by the government in relation to the Covid 19 epidemic is that these days it is prohibited for people to hold all festivals in public. However, Minister Prasanna Ranatunga violated all these rules and ceremoniously handed over the temporary hospital at Wathupitiwala to the Health Department.

This is not the first makeshift hospital they have opened. Earlier, temporary wards were constructed in Minuwangoda, Mulleriyawa and Kotadeniyawa and handed over to the government. These have been published in the face book of the Minister of Tourism and it can be seen that many people have expressed their displeasure over it.

The money they spent on the event could have done something for the well-being of the Kovid patients, rather than celebrating at the time. But it does not. Everyone is trying to collect votes for the next election. It is to convince the President that he has done better than the others.

It is reported that beds are being made at the Ratmalana work yard of the Sri Lanka Railway Department these days. With the intervention of the trade unions
