The government has issued an Extraordinary Gazette Notification under the Prevention of Terrorism Act with orders to expel extremist religious ideologies.
This has been issued by President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
Accordingly, a person who surrenders or is arrested to a person who is not a police officer should be handed over to the nearest police station within 24 hours of surrendering.
Also, the OIC in charge of the relevant police station should submit a report to the Minister in charge of the subject for conducting investigations regarding the person who surrenders or is arrested.
According to those investigations, if the person concerned has committed a specific offense, those matters should be referred to the Attorney General for legal action.
