The Minister of Education G.L. Peiris has stated that the verdict of Mr. Basil Rajapaksa is not a verdict given only to an individual but a remarkable case which shows the purity of the judiciary.
He claims that the case was baseless and that it was an attempt by the judiciary to achieve malicious political ends.
He further states that cases have been filed against political opponents and they have been remanded.
