A group of inmates at the Angunakolapelessa Prison staged a protest today (Jan. 24) against that they be brought to the Angunakolapelessa Prison to detain their relatives.
According to prison sources, 15 inmates are currently on the roofs of cells A and cell C.
A group of inmates at the Angunakolapelessa Prison had gone on a hunger strike yesterday and later had a discussion with the prison officials. It is said that they had received food.
According to prison sources, there are plans to bring Covid infected prisoners to the Angunakolapelessa prison and the prisoners have started the protest.
Additional police security has been deployed around the Angunakolapelessa Prison since last night.
