The United States has endorsed the UN Human Rights Council’s resolution on alleged human rights abuses in Sri Lanka, including a lack of accountability.
Addressing the 46th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, US Secretary of State Anthony J. Snyder said he would encourage member states to adopt other resolutions, including the Geneva resolution. Blinken stated.
This is the first statement made by President Biden’s administration regarding Sri Lanka.
Addressing the Human Rights Council session via video technology, the US Secretary of State further stated that the new administration hopes to rejoin the Human Rights Council.
