The Minister of State for Science, Channa Jayasumana, has pointed out that tests conducted on the effectiveness of the Moderna Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccines against the Covid 19 virus, which are widely used in the United States, Europe and the Northern Hemisphere, have shown that their value has dropped.
This was stated by the Minister of State for Drug Production Supply and Regulation Prof. Channa Jayasumana at a media briefing held in Anuradhapura. Speaking further the Minister said that this was revealed during a special research on the effectiveness and safety of vaccinations and vaccines (6th).
This information has been published in the world renowned science journal Science published in the United States. A study of 800,000 people in the United States revealed the immunity of those who received the vaccine over a six – month period from March to September.
The study revealed that although the Moderna vaccine initially showed 89 percent, its effectiveness has dropped to 58 percent.
The effectiveness of the Pfizer vaccine has been reduced from 87 percent to 43 percent. The effectiveness of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine has dropped from 86 percent to 13 percent.
America, Europe and the Northern Hemisphere have a long winter ahead. With the onset of winter, gas prices also increase. There is a risk that the protection provided by the vaccine will be reduced.
