Dappula de Livera, Attorney General, has requested Acting Inspector General of Police, to immediately investigate the involvement of Brandix in the spread of the Minuwangoda Covid 19 virus and submit a report within two weeks. Mr. C.D Wickramaratne had been ordered on the 27th.
Accordingly, the Acting Inspector General of Police handed over the case to the Colombo Crimes Division and it was handed over to a team headed by an Assistant Superintendent of Police under the supervision of its Director.
But even when it was handed over to them, several of its officers were Covid was infected. Accordingly, the Attorney General has instructed the Acting Inspector General of Police to immediately remove these investigations from the Colombo Crimes Division.
But two weeks later, the Acting IGP had not submitted to the Attorney General a report on the investigation into Brandix ‘involvement in the spread of the Minuwangoda Covid 19 virus.
The Attorney General has inquired about this from the Acting IGP again yesterday (18) and the team of officers investigating the matter has been summoned to the Attorney General.
