The chief suspect of the murder of Ranjan Silva, father of cricketer Dhananjaya de Silva, Dharmasiri Perera has been arrested in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Ranjan Silva was shot and killed in Mount Lavinia on the 24th of May, 2018.
Acting Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the suspect had fled the country soon after the incident and Police received information that he was remaining in the UAE.
DIG Ajith Rohana noted an initial investigation was conducted and a warrant was obtained for his arrest after tabling facts before Court.
The DIG added a Red Notice was issued on Dharmasiri Perera after the warrant was submitted to INTERPOL.
DIG Ajith Rohana said the suspect was arrested by the Abu Dhabi on Sunday, the 29th of November, and the arrest was intimated to the INTERPOL Unit of Sri Lanka.
The DIG stated measures are being taken with diplomatic missions to bring Dharmasiri Perera to Sri Lanka while coordinating with the INTERPOL Unit of UAE and the Sri Lankan Mission of UAE.
