Over 3000 children under care of probation!

The Western Provincial Probation and Child Care Authority say that more than 3000 children who have lost the love of their parents are being taken care of by the Department of Probation and Child Care in the Western Province.

The number of children whose parents are alive, whose parents are not alive, or who have no guardians, is increasing or decreasing year by year. These children are being cared at 116 child development centers in the Western Province. Even though many parents work hard to give the best to their children, there are some children live without the love of their parents, siblings and relatives due to the faults of their parents. These children have been placed in probationary custody due to adult problems such as their parents leaving them, disrupting family cause parent gone abroad, the death of a parent and face the difficulty of raising them due to financial issues.

Child rights advocacy officials say some children being cared in orphanages are returned to their parents sometimes. Children’s rights organizations say still there are many cases of children being taken into probation due to adult misconduct or problems being taken to court, along with other adult offenders in the community. The major issue is children who are sexually abused are placed in probation with orphans or other social offenses, and innocent children experience serious sexual abuse, according to the Children and Women’s Bureau.
