Commissioner General of Elections Saman Sri Ratnayake announced yesterday that the new Chairman and other members of the Election Commission have been appointed.
The President has made these appointments in accordance with Articles 41 (a) and 103 (1) of the Constitution.
Accordingly, the following members have been appointed to the Election Commission.
Mr. Nimal G. Punchihewa – Chairman and Member
Mr. MM Mohamed – Member
Mr. SB Divaratne – Member
Mr. KPP Pathirana – Member
Mr. Jeevan Thyagaraja – Member
Accordingly, the members including the new Chairman of the Election Commission commenced their duties this morning.
