MP Sanath Nishantha’s brother and Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Pradeshiya Sabha member Jagath Samantha has been arrested.
He has been arrested on charges of assaulting persons and obstructing the duties of Police officers at a filling station in Arachchikattuwa.
A video had been widely circulated on social media showing Jagath Samantha assaulting a group of individuals near the filling station, leading to his arrest.
The incident which had been caught on the CCTV camera of the fuel station had occurred on Friday, the 17th of June.
Jagath Samantha, who was the former Chairman of the Arachchikattuwa Pradeshiya Sabha, is accused of having assaulted individuals who had been waiting in the queue at the fuel station
