Minister of Education does not know the function of the Ministry of Education!

The proposal made by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudharshana Pathirana to the Ministry of Education, to approve the proposal, was approved by the Ministry of Education.

Even the Minister of Education is not aware of the agreement to appoint Air Force personnel to teach in schools and the General Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers Union Joseph Starlin asks on what basis the Secretary of Education Dr. Kapila Perera agreed to this.

The government has decided to appoint members of the Air Force as teachers in schools in remote areas such as Kebithigollewa and Vavuniya.

The union said the current government was planning to appoint secretaries to ministries, as heads of various state institutions, and as an extension of the process of appointing military personnel to 25 districts to crack down on covid 19, adding that the country could not avoid the militarization of military personnel for civilian duties.
