The Commission has paid close attention to delays in the provision of information under the Freedom of Information Act of Sri Lanka and will take legal action against public officials responsible for deliberate delays in avoiding their official duties under that Act.
While such instances are not uncommon, the Commission does not hesitate to take criminal action against parties who deliberately ignore or omit the legal process under the Freedom of Information Act in accordance with the statutory powers vested in the Commission by the Act.
