A group of officers from the Kuda Oya Police Station who had gone to raid a casino had taken a money from a cupboard to a house and harassed the owner of the money when he went to the police and demanded a refund.
On the night of 2nd July Veherayaya, Ethiliwewa Dudley M.M Thilina Danushka no. 2/97, had gone to irrigate the pumpkin cultivation in the Veherayaya land. Later that night, the Kuda Oya Police arrived to raid a casino in Siripuragama. Upon learning that the casino was being raided, the people in the casino went to Thilina’s house and hid.
