Full CCTV footage of Weligama Port employee’s murder has released.

Police have released full CCTV footage of the death of a Colombo Port employee who was killed in a road accident.

Susil Indrajith, a 49-year-old father of two, had died on the night of 17th May when he came to Weligama town to fetch some food for his family members who had been quarantined.

According to the CCTV footage, Susil Indrajith was having a conversation with the two police officers in Weligama police and was later kicked by one of the officers. After a short while, a person in civilian clothe came to the place and beaten Indrajith in front of the police officers. These scenes included Indrajith falling down to the road like a felled tree, due to a severe blow to the Indrajith’s  face by the same person.

It is proven from these scenes, as soon as he fell in the middle of the road, the two police officers and the assailant were got on to their motorcycles and ridden to one direction from the place where they were.

According to Indrajith’s family, the assailant was identified as Nathan, a canteen officer at the Weligama Police Station, who had assaulted Indrajith by following the instructions of the police. They also said that, the reason may caused to these incident was Indrajith’s motorcycle stopped by the police and for some reason the key was not given to him again.

Indrajith’s wife has lodged a complaint with the IGP, the CID and the Human Rights Commission seeking a fair and impartial inquiry into this incident.
