First testimony of Prageeth Ekneligoda from Sandya…

Journalist Prageeth Eknaligoda’s wife is being questioned in connection with the case filed in the High Court against the accused in the enforced disappearance.

Sandhya Eknaligoda, a world – renowned human rights activist, said that the most comforting day in the struggle for more than ten years to seek justice for her husband was the day she testified.

She further added that 3873 days after the disappearance of journalist Prageeth Eknaligoda, she testified on Wednesday (August 2) as the first witness in the case filed in Sri Lanka regarding his disappearance.

“Yesterday was the most satisfying day of the 3873 days without Prageeth.  Because I was called as the first witness in the case filed by the Republic of Sri Lanka regarding his disappearance.  Thank you to everyone who gave me the opportunity to shed new light on old truths,” Sandhya Eknaligoda said in a message posted on social media.

Although she was first summoned to appear on February 20, 2020 to give evidence in the case filed in the Permanent High Court in 2019, it was postponed to September 2 due to the epidemic situation in the country.
