Kaushalya Ariyaratne, Attorney-at-Law, Member of the Steering Committee of the ”ALUTH PIYAPAYH”, urged the government to find the member who led the Easter attack and punish the victims.
The primary purpose of the Easter Commission of Inquiry, established in September 2019, was to uncover who was behind the operation, who planned it, why it was not prevented, who aided and abetted the perpetrators, and to do justice to the victims in the future. She points out that it is to prevent the incident and get recommendations for it.
The report of the Easter Commission, which has been calling for evidence for more than a year and a half, has been handed over to the President and the Attorney General in more than a thousand pages recently and she says she sees it as a hoax.
She says the report aims to retaliate against state leaders for failing to prevent crime without finding out who carried out the attack.
It acknowledges that the security forces in charge of state security, including the then president, prime minister and defense minister, who did not prevent it, are inevitably held accountable for their crimes, but the failure to find the culprits raises doubts as to whether it was someone’s intention.
