Upul Rohana, the President of the Public Health Inspectors’ Association, has said that his association has a problem with the Covid 19 statistics revealed by certain electronic media and that the Covid 19 epidemic has now spread across the country and that the figures provided by the authorities are completely false.
He also said that if accurate information is required at the grassroots level, the responsible sections of the government should be in constant touch with their association.
Upul Rohana points out this problem which had affected only the Western Province has now spread to almost every district of the country and it has been revealed that the employees of industrial estates and private sectors in many districts of the country have also become afflicted with covid and it is imperative that a tough decision be taken in this regard.
Meanwhile, the Mawrata newspaper reported that Dr. Amal Harsha de Silva, the Secretary to the Ministry of Primary Health Care, Infectious Diseases and Prevention of Covid 19, has also confirmed that there is an increase in the number of infections in the country. He said that although only 400,500 cases were reported in the past, now that number is likely to increase up to 700.
