Civil society is urging the government to heed the advice of Sri Lanka’s specialist medical professionals and issue a statement with more than 100 signatures calling for the burial bodies of those infected with covid 19.
A statement issued by the Sri Lanka Medical Association on January 2 stated that the burial of Covid 19 infected corpses could be approved as there was a low level of viral infection in the corpse and there was no evidence from any part of the world that the burial of Covid 19 infected corpses could cause a public health disaster. That is not.
The Joint Statement of Civil Society (CCPSL) in a joint statement issued by the Society of Physicians of Sri Lanka (CCPSL) on December 31, 2020, issued a similar statement stating that none of the 85,000 scientific research papers currently published on Kovid 19 had been reported to be infected with the virus. That had been done.
