Lankadeepa has been accused of using the most rude words in news coverage of the Corona epidemic last month.
According to a survey conducted by the EthicsEye team affiliated with the Veritas Research Institute, the decision was based on the number of uncivilized, negative applications related to Covid-19 published in selected Sinhala language newspapers between October 1 and 23, 2020.
It further states that terms such as “Corona Woman”, “Corona Bride” have been considered.
According to a survey conducted on the basis of five newspapers, Lankadeepa, Aruna, Divaina, Mawbima and Dinamina, Lankadeepa, which is considered to be the best selling newspaper in the country during that period, has used the terminology related to covid reporting nine times during that period. But Aruna newspaper Used only twice.
EthicsEye points out that the Divaina and Mawbima newspapers reported one or two instances when covering of Covid reporting during the same period, but the Dinamina newspaper never used such a term.
