UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe says that politics in this country has been taken to an extreme by Pohottu and Viyath Maga.
“We cannot move forward with the old politics and now the people are fed up with racist and religious politics,” he said.
He emphasized that the front would not win and that the people now wanted to get out of this pit.
“We are unable to provide relief to the people today because of the bankruptcy of the local economy as well as foreign exchange,” he said, adding that in order to overcome this, we need to be friendly with countries such as the United States, Japan and India.
“China cannot help every country in the world and we have to go there because we have the largest market in India. We have to build our own economy,” he said.
“We have to run the country on the same policy for a long time, but today, with the change of government, everything is changing from the clerk,” he said.
Mr. Wickremesinghe says that we should remove Article 20 and if possible we can go to 19 and bring a new constitution through it or we can bring in a new constitution.
He said this during a discussion with journalists in the North and East. This was organized by the Young Journalists Association.
