Journalist Ramshi Razik.
In fact, I’m been writing about political issues for about 10 years now. I’ve been doing that for 10 years. In my Facebook post, I criticized both the political and religious institutions that influence society the most. That is because those two columns have become a decisive factor for the society. So I have directly challenged that political body and the clergy body in my posts. Because of this I had a preconceived notion of myself as a person who attacked the norm. In fact I was arrested because of a post I last wrote. This is what I said in that post and the background to that post.
He had mentioned a few reasons as to why Saharan had such an idea to detonate the bomb. One thing he says is that he did this in the belief that there should be a response to the attacks in Beruwala, Aluthgama and Digana. I said in my post that Saharan is actually a jihadist. He says you have to do jihad. He has a different interpretation of it, not the real interpretation. In my post I said that if we do jihad we should do it not as an armed struggle but as an ideological struggle using pens and keyboards. That’s what I meant. I used the word ‘thought jihad’ there. I made it clear in that post that what we need is a thought jihad carried out using a pen and keyboard.
But after posting that, I started getting a lot of threats, even death threats. I complained to the IGP via email. I did not receive any response to the complaint. I lodged a complaint and the next day the CID arrested me. They say I can not use the word jihad, it is a bold word. But even someone with a general knowledge of Islam knows that jihad is a commonly used word. It’s just a story about a normal struggle.
A brief description of jihad Jihad is divided into three parts. The first part is the jihad against the emotions / evil feelings that arise in our hearts. Jihad in our hearts. As a Muslim, I mostly do jihad in my heart against the evil thoughts that arise in my heart. That is what Islam says is the main struggle. Secondly, Islam says that the second struggle is an ideological struggle against certain social injustices and injustices in the society. That is, we must fight against freedom of speech, speech, writing, speaking and the injustice that comes with it. The second point is that we must wage jihad against it. The third point is that Islam says that when any social injustice exceeds the limits, even an armed struggle can take place. Struggles such as the Palestinian struggle and the Vietnam War can be cited as examples, but Islam says very little about this struggle as a last resort. Many Islamic scholars even say that this third jihad, an armed jihad, can only be carried out by a legitimate government or legitimate army. Normally a person is not allowed to do this jihad in Islam. I caught that fact and created that post.
But they only caught the word jihad and arrested me. When she presented me to the magistrate the next day, she looked at my post and realized that there was nothing wrong with my post and that there was no reason to arrest me. But she could not do anything because the CID had filed a complaint against me under the International Covenant on Social and Political Rights (ICCPR). Under that a magistrate cannot grant bail when a case is filed. Definitely have to go to the High Court. Accordingly I was imprisoned. Then I spent more than five months in prison. I was then granted bail by the High Court. What the judge said in the High Court on bail was that speech is not just about expressing an opinion on the right to freedom of speech, it is about opposing an opinion and expressing an opinion against an opinion. Therefore, what he has done is to present an opinion against a certain opinion, so the Magistrate granted me bail from that opinion.
After my arrest, I was initially detained at the Pallansena Prison for about three weeks. After that I was sent to Welikada Remand Prison. I have been suffering from rheumatoid arthritis for some time. As a result, I had a hard time coping with prison. Due to my joint pain, I could not do without toilet facilities for toilet needs. Prison toilets do not have commode facilities. At the same time there is a sleeping condition in the cement. I had a hard time coping with such a situation due to my illness. I am
After making several requests, I was admitted to the prison hospital. There I received some treatment. But a fall in prison broke my arm. They treated the broken arm but the treatment did not work properly. So my hand is not in a normal position now. The doctors suggested that it be repaired with another operation
