The National peace council said that, 20th Amendment to the Constitution gets unlimited power.
They have said this in a statement.
Article 33 (1) (b) states that the President must promote national reconciliation and integration. The National Peace Council states that the powers of the Presidential Secretariat to lead the reconciliation process have been devolved by the 19th Amendment to the Constitution.
Jehan Perera, Executive Director of the National Peace Council, urges the government to reconsider the need to move forward with the 20th Amendment in its current form.
The National Peace Council (NPC) has stated that there is no urgent need for a 20th Amendment to the Constitution and that it is an interim measure until a new one is drafted.
