Former Senior DIG Anura Senanayake And Sumith Perera Further Remanded


Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris said today, May 26, further remanded Former Western Province Senior DIG Anura Senanayake and Former Narahenpita Crimes OIC Sumith Champika Perera until June 9, 2016 over the murder of ruggerite Wasim Thajudeen.

Thajudeen, a Sri Lankan ruggerite and former Havelock SC captain, was killed in Colombo in May 2012.

Senanayake was arrested by the CID on May 23, for concealing information pertaining to the murder. He was questioned for several days before he was arrested.

Perera who was also arrested by the CID in April for concealing evidence with regard to the murder of Thajudeen had reportedly revealed the names of the ‘higher authorities’ from where he received the order to cover up Thajudeen’s murder.
